Philips acquires Meditronics

I have been 'on the road' and just catching up on email / RSS feeds. This news about Medtronics is 2 weeks since, I am curious to know if everyone else is getting that 6th sense "... we are living in what history may write as something big, though it occurs in realtime, sometimes it is like deja-vu, these current day 2008 events.. ??"

Interesting to see the consolidation of business as by product of world economic issues... Airlines in 1989, Banks in 90's..2008, Automakers since the 1970's, now there are medical hardware and software providers joining the rank and file... Things that make you go hmm...!

Royal Philips Electronics, a global leader in healthcare, consumer lifestyle, and lighting, recently outlined its focus on India as an emerging market. Keeping its commitment to delivering affordable healthcare solutions in emerging markets, Philips has announced the acquisition of Meditronics, a manufacturer of general X-ray systems targeting the economy segment in India.

This acquisition gives Philips access to a strong sales and distribution channel for the economy segment. Meditronics has a network of 25 dealers with large geographical coverage, focused on mid/low-end X-ray business.
